Snow Leopard dibangun pada sepuluh tahun sejarah perkembangan OS X dengan ratusan perbaikan dan solusi teknologi revolusioner yang mendukung Microsoft Exchange, dan fitur baru dari akses universal. Snow Leopard akan dikirimkan sebagai update ke Mac OS X Leopard sejak September 2009.

During the creation of Snow Leopard Apple engineers focused on optimizing the most advanced operating system in the world, improving over 90 percent of the 1000 components of Mac OS X. Users will mark the rapid response from Finder; application Mail, download messages to 85 percent faster, and an increase of 90 per cent of the speed search feature Time Machine, by 50 percent of expedited the process of backing up information in a way to target the windows Expose, now integrated in the Dock; 64-bit Safari browser, version 4 with new core of Nitro, in which the speed of processing javascript rose 50 percent, and the system of protection against failures caused by plug-ins. In addition, Snow Leopard has a new upgraded player QuickTime X, which allows users to easily view, record, edit and lay out the video on YouTube, MobileMe, or in iTunes. The size of the operating system, Snow Leopard is nearly half that of the previous version. After installation, the system frees up to 6 GB of disk space.

Snow Leopard first offers 64-bit system applications, including Finder, Mail, iCal, iChat, and the browser Safari, and support 64-bit processors allows you to use large amounts of memory, increase productivity and the level of protection, while maintaining compatibility with 32-bit applications. Technology Grand Central Dispatch (GCD) provides a revolutionary way to maximize the benefits of multicore processors. GCD is fully integrated into Snow Leopard, ranging from the new system API (application programming interfaces) to the system shell extensions and higher-level programming language, resulting in more rapid response system. OpenCL, open standard based on the C language, allows developers to fully utilize the computing power of graphic processing, and for ordinary computing.

Snow Leopard supports Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, working directly with the Mac OS X Mail, Address Book and iCal, making it possible to use these applications to send and receive messages, create invitations to meetings, as well as contact management and synchronization with the global address list. Snow Leopard is easy to work with the data of the Exchange server and allows you to enjoy the unique features of OS X, as a quick Spotlight search and preview Quick Look. Snow Leopard - the only operating system with full support for Exchange 2007 that will allow any business to easily introduce the Mac in the organization.

Each computer has a Mac innovative features and technologies for people with special needs, and Snow Leopard offers a new advanced features and technologies that make the Mac even more accessible to people with visual impairments. Trackpad Apple Multi-Touch is now associated with the Narrator VoiceOver, so that users can navigate the system, simply move your finger on the trackpad, as the screen. Snow Leopard also got built-in support for bluetooth-wireless systems, reading and writing for the blind, as well as the ability to connect several of these devices to one computer Mac.
